The Distribution Center Worker plays a crucial role in material movement operations within the facility and surrounding grounds by utilizing specialized equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Pick out specific vending and cold drink equipment that can cater to the sales requirements.
- Ensuring that outbound loads are protected and secure can be achieved by using protective wrapping as required and affixing the necessary paperwork (STO).
- Follow CCCI's SOPs when aiding in the loading and unloading of trailers to assist with delivery operations. Use handhelds to update SAP and CONA, keeping track of inbound and outbound loads to ensure accuracy and accountability for the territories served by the Regional Operation Center.
- Maintain a secure and orderly work area by performing essential safety and housekeeping activities, including pre- and post-trip inspections, reviewing daily logs, and keeping the workspace clean and hazard-free.
- Perform a variety of duties as directed, including physically transferring equipment, clearing out equipment deemed obsolete, and tending to the yard space.
- Use a switch engine to transport both 53' and pup trailers to the dock as required.
Some abilities can be learned through training and experience, while others are part of an individual's natural aptitudes
- Skillful implementation of fundamental safety principles, such as the correct way of lifting heavy objects and the observance of appropriate protective clothing.
- Adept in executing advanced forklift maneuvers within confined spaces while maintaining utmost safety protocols.
- Basic pallet-jack skills.
- Elementary competence in mechanics and uncomplicated employment of tools.
- Adept at efficiently using various uncomplicated machinery.
- Documented procedures and instructions should be strictly followed.
- Create reports through handwritten or electronic formats to reflect progress.
- Follow verbal instructions.
- Intermediate math skills.
- A complete understanding of the factors that augment efficiency.
- Aptness to assess the construction of orders, streamline the loading workflow, and determine the ideal path for pick and load.
- Managing various processes at the same time is a fundamental part of maintaining an optimized system.
- Being able to precisely count received merchandise and cross-check it with the manifest is of great significance.
- Ensuring precise loading of trucks in compliance with documentation guidelines on a consistent basis.
- Displays strong communication talents in both professional and personal settings.
- The job requires the stamina to work in punishing temperatures, amidst deafening noise, on treacherous floors, and broken glass.
- There are times when lifting objects that are larger than 25 pounds may be necessary, but this is not something that happens often.
- Endurance in remaining seated for extended stretches of time.
- Continual transitioning on and off of a forklift.
- The proper operation of truck dock doors is vital in ensuring that deliveries and pickups are done promptly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- By getting certified for forklifts and pallet jacks, workers can improve their job prospects and earning potential.
- Switcher operation certification.
- A Class A CDL is a requirement in some circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Past familiarity with logistics handling.
- An improperly loaded truck can cause damage to the truck's suspension, brakes, and tires, leading to reduced lifespan and costly repairs.
Work Environment:
- A location with a non-regulated temperature and loud noise level, consisting of both high temperature and low temperature surroundings.
